The purpose of this course is to introduce biometrics within its general context (Part I). Afterwards, a specific interested is given to face recognition techniques. More specifically, in Part II, global appearance approach techniques are considered. As an example, PCA-based technique is detailed from the algorithmic point of view. In Part III, local appearance face recognition is considered from a practical point of view. This part help students to develop their own applications. as an advice, many useful references are recommended to deal with biometrics (see bibliography). I have selected some good references, including some talks (e.g Anil Jain, M. Nixon,..). Pay attention to the reference (3) which refer to materials required to prepare IEEE certification in Biometrics (5 topics are available). Proposed courses are not presented from the mathematical/programing point of view, but they are extremely interesting. They even can be complementary to the International Master of Biometrics in which you have the opportunity to deal with some details (algorithmic/mathematics). As you know, our program aim also to prepare students to deal with research.
Students will acquire the fundamentals of biometrics .

Courses (six topics) provide basis of biometrics, excluding algorithmic/programming aspects.
