Basic principles of electricity.
The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology belongs to the broader class of Automatic Identification and Data Capture technologies and is widely used in biometric systems. The goal of this course is to provide students with the essential technical skills and the main concepts related to the RFID technology. This course is composed of four chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to the RFID basics including the physics of radio waves. The second chapter presents the communication methods between readers and tags, as well as characteristics of antennas and other devices and RFID network features. The third chapter describes the RFID standards and emphasizes their importance in the context of global market. The fourth and last chapter is related to the site analysis and describes the instruments and tools that can be used to optimize the RFID network installation.
